Mykola Leontovych's Shchedryk used in the recent episode of Doctor Who. Video

In the 2nd episode of the new season of the Doctor Who series, you can hear the motif of the legendary "Shchedryk" by Ukrainian composer Mykola Leontovych. The piece formed the basis for the Christmas song Carol of the Bells, which became part of the plot of the May 11 episode.

The series was called "The Devil's Chord" and was dedicated to music. The BBC series is available on official platforms.

In the story, the fifteenth Doctor and his companion, the charming blonde Ruby Sunday, travel back to 1963 to hear a live concert by The Beatles. The main characters notice that something strange has happened to the world, and music has lost its popularity.

Then Ruby and the Doctor find out that 28 years ago, one of their music teachers played "The Devil's Chord" that brought the Maestro into the world. The antagonist attacks Ruby, and he manages to awaken the melody in the heroine's soul.

Carol of the Bells, a song based on the legendary "Shchedryk", is heard around the room. Snow begins to fall from the sky, and the Doctor shares that this song was played on Christmas Day at Ruby's birth.

"How can a song have so much power?" the Maestro wonders.
