King Charles's curly dog Lagotto Romagnolo: why this breed is not for everyone
After it became known that King Charles III of Great Britain had acquired a Lagotto-Romagnolo puppy, interest in this dog breed increased.
But Kennel Club spokesperson Bill Lambert says that while Lagotto Romagnolo and other breeds made famous by celebrities and influencers can be fantastic family pets, they are not for everyone, the Express reports.
"It is a wonderful breed and seems to be very suitable for His Majesty the King, who loves to hunt and has an active lifestyle," he said.

But, as the expert noted, such a dog is not at all suitable for a less active owner.
The Lagotto reached its peak of popularity in the UK in 2023, the same year it was crowned Best in Show at Crufts, with about 327 puppies registered, according to the Kennel Club.
In contrast, the popularity of the Pembrokeshire Welsh Corgi jumped 56% in the year after it was adopted by the royal family, and puppy registrations peaked at 9000 in 1960, seven years after the Queen's coronation.
