iPhone 17 may finally get reverse wireless charging

Yulia PoteriankoNews

It looks like the next generation of Apple smartphones will finally get the feature that Android devices have had for years. According to new reports, the American manufacturer is testing reverse wireless charging for the iPhone 17 Pro.

According to ITC and Macrumors, citing sources in the Chinese social network Weibo, Apple is currently testing reverse charging with a power of 7.5W. If the feature is approved, it will allow charging AirPods headphones or Apple Watch by simply placing them next to a smartphone.

The first rumors that the tech giant could incorporate this appeared before the release of the iPhone 12. Apple even added the necessary components to the gadgets, but eventually refused it. Similar rumors circulated about the iPhone 14, but nothing happened then either.

It is now known that the manufacturer is preparing a whole list of major changes for the iPhone 17 series, and reverse wireless charging may be one of them. There are also rumors that Apple will regroup the camera bar, lining them up in a horizontal line, as well as that the company may implement an aluminum frame instead of a steel or titanium one in the 17th generation of its smartphones. And the iPhone 17 Plus may be replaced by the ultra-thin Air model. According to preliminary information, the lineup will consist of the iPhone 17, Air, Pro, and Pro Max versions.
