The study found that manufacturers of low-cost cars had the highest number of recalls related to defects in cars in 2024. In particular, Ford appeared to be the "leader" of this race.

According to Motor1, since the beginning of 2024, Ford has announced 41 recall campaigns, which in total affected 3.7 million vehicles. According to a study cited by the American National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (which also includes Jeep and Dodge) is in second place with 2.6 million cars.

It is expected that the end of the year such cars will become even more. Recall campaigns have been announced to fix various defects. For example, the Ford Transit has problems with the steering column mount, and the Mustang has defective parts in the suspension.

The Ford Bronco Sport and Mustang Mach-E models also need to have their windshield wiper motors replaced, while the Ford Maverick budget pickup suffers from several issues.

According to media reports, Ford said during a recent conference that it is spending a lot of money on these issues. In the first three months of 2024 alone, the automaker has spent more than $2.3 billion on recall campaigns and related warranty service.
