How to drive a car correctly to avoid distractions: expert advice
Drivers are being urged to make sure their seats are properly adjusted so that the aches and pains of an uncomfortable position don't distract them during long journeys.
Driving expert Hannah Prescott of Diamond Interiors warned that drivers should sit in a certain position so that back and neck strain does not ruin the trip, the Express writes.
"When you're going on a long journey, paying attention to how you sit can save you from severe back and neck pain. Make sure that your hips are fully on the seat to support your lower back. This will help keep your spine in its natural position. Keep your back straight and your shoulders relaxed on the seat to avoid hunched or tense," she advised.
The expert also recommended that drivers properly adjust their seats before long trips, choosing the best position for their backs.
"Adjust the seat back to about 100-110 degrees, which is great for your posture and prevents slouching. If you have an adjustable lumbar support, use it to match the natural curve of your lower back," she explained.
Prescott also advised to take regular breaks, during which the driver can get out of the car and stretch his legs.
