How to accelerate the growth of monstera: a simple fertilizer

Our favorite houseplants not only serve as a beautiful addition to the interior but also purify and freshen the air in the house. But from time to time, their health can deteriorate and they may need additional nutrition and care.

Even a hardy plant like Monstera is vulnerable to changes in condition. A delay in the formation of new leaves on the stem can signal that it is not feeling well. In this case, the Monstera may need additional nutrition. The Interia Kobieta publication told us how to prepare a fertilizer that is useful for it.

All you need to improve the condition of your monstera is a popular seasoning that is available in every home. We are talking about an ordinary bay leaf. Take three medium-sized leaves and pour a glass of boiling water over them. Cover the vessel in which you are preparing the infusion with a lid and wait until the liquid has cooled to room temperature. During this time, the bay leaf will give up all its nutrients, and the fertilizer will become usable.

Simply water your Monstera with this infusion. But don't do it too often – an excess of nutrients in the soil can be detrimental to the plant. In the warm season (from March to October), watering with bay water once a month is sufficient. In the fall and winter, you can use this fertilizer every 2-3 months, depending on the condition of the plant.

Fertilizer based on bay leaves provides indoor plants with two key minerals – potassium and phosphorus. They strengthen the condition of the flower, improve photosynthesis, and increase resistance to diseases and pests. In addition, bay leaf fertilizer can also stimulate plant growth. In addition to monstera, zamioculcas, sansevierias, and decorative foliage plants can be fertilized with bay water.
