Rusanivka is called "Kyiv Venice"

Until 1960, the capital's Rusanivka was a place of sands and floodplain meadows. In 1974, an unknown amateur photographer took a picture of the "Kyiv Venice" embankment where young willows were recently planted, which have grown over 50 years and changed the appearance of the canal.

The photo was posted by Kyrylo Stepanets, a Kyiv guide, on his Telegram channel. Even back then, this location was a favorite place for walking and recreation for Kyiv residents.

"Rusanivka before and after 50 years," the post reads.

Thanks to the published photo, you can clearly see how much this location has changed in half a century. The trees that were planted on the embankment of Kyiv Venice in the early 70s have grown a lot since then and their branches almost blocked the view of the bridge over the Rusanivskyi Canal.
