Modern compact city cars differ little from each other in terms of technical characteristics and even appearance. That is why models created with a special charm become so noticeable.

This is why Motor1 has acknowledged the 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid as Car of the Year. It was named the best small sedan.

The magazine's experts praised the Honda Civic Hybrid for its large interior space, which exceeds the capabilities of the Accord model. The car boasts a spacious trunk and comfortable rear seats. The headroom in the back is actually suitable for taller people, and the front seats seem as wide and roomy as any small SUV.

The further excellence of the eleventh generation Civic is evident by truly advanced interior trim and no unpleasant side effects such as noise and shaking. At the same time, the physical controls and high-quality materials are a joy to use - especially the knurled HVAC gear shift. These are the details that help the Civic Hybrid look a class above its level.

The powertrain is another key feature experts liked. The Honda Civic Hybrid has the old 2.0-liter atmospheric four-cylinder engine, improved for better fuel-efficiency, while further aided by a new generation of hybrid system. Although it doesn't promise anything special in documents, it achieves impressive figures: only 4.8 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. It even surpasses the sporty Civic Si in terms of power output.

In practice, it is one of the best hybrid powertrains in the world, the magazine claims. It feels significantly more powerful and responsive than the Civic Si's engine, delivering real-world fuel-efficiency figures. Switching between the electric and the gasoline drive comes without any problems. It is smooth, with minimal noise and almost zero vibration reaching the cabin.
