Harlan commented on Ukraine's victory at the 2024 Olympics
The leader of the Ukrainian national fencing team, Olga Harlan, could hardly contain her emotions when commenting on the team gold medal at the 2024 Olympics. The 33-year-old native of Mykolaiv, along with Alina Komashchuk, Olena Kravatska, and Yulia Bakastova, defeated the South Korean team 45-42 in the final.
Harlan admitted that she has not yet realized what happened.
"We realize that we sang the Ukrainian anthem, this medal is for the country, for the Armed Forces. The quarterfinals with Italy? We knew that the Italians were afraid of us. But there were a lot of nerves, we were nervous. And after we won, we exhaled. Before the final, we told each other that we could win. I think we were relaxed. I can't believe this is happening. It's something incredible - a gold medal 16 years after Beijing," Olga said on Suspilne.Sport.
After the final injection, the audience in Paris gave our compatriots a standing ovation.
During the award ceremony, the Ukrainian anthem was played for the first time at the Games in the French capital.
