Dog owners warned about the danger of popular treats: "werewolf syndrome" occurs

ObozrevatelNews

Dog owners in the UK have been urged to be careful after the Food Standards Agency (FSA) raised concerns about several dog treats from popular brands Barkoo and Chrisco.

The FSA is a British government department dedicated to consumer safety and transparent food standards. It oversees food safety and hygiene in Britain, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

The recent warning concerns a series of specific dog foods that can lead to "serious behavioral changes" and illness due to a condition informally called "werewolf syndrome."

The alarm about these products was raised back in January, but the situation has recently escalated. According to the FSA, if your dog has consumed any of these treats, you should stop using them immediately. If your dog exhibits any unusual symptoms or becomes ill after eating one of these foods, it is very important to consult your veterinarian immediately. Be prepared to tell them exactly what your dog has eaten.

This applies to the following foods:

  • Barkoo kaustange natur 29 cm
  • Barkoo kauknochen, geknotet natur 11 cm
  • Barkoo Kauknochen geknotet 24cm
  • Barkoo Kauknochen geknotet with spirulina 12cm
  • Chrisco Tyggeruller med kylling, 10 stk
  • Chrisco Tyggeruller med kylling and kyllingelever, 100g.

In most cases, these are protein chews for dogs.

What is "werewolf syndrome"

Symptoms associated with this condition can range from panic attacks, aggression, and spasms to epileptic seizures and in some cases death. There may also be excessive howling.

Pet owners are urged to take this warning seriously to protect the well-being of their beloved dogs.
