"Crimea is Ukraine!" Border guards refused to let a girl from Russia into Georgia after seeing her passport

A traveler from occupied Crimea was not allowed to enter Georgia because of her Russian passport

A Crimean native traveling from Russia to Georgia said that Georgian border guards refused to let her enter the country because of her internal passport. According to the blogger, the Georgians were completely "unhinged" because they claimed that the girl's document contained an incorrect residence.

The author of the post shared that residents of the occupied Crimea are issued Russian passports in Krasnodar. Due to an "unfortunate" coincidence, during the document check, the girl was asked not only for her passport, which indicated her place of birth as "Ukraine," but also for an internal identity document. When the border guards saw the red book, they said: "The registration is wrong! Crimea is Ukraine! Change your passport or registration and we will let you in."

According to the blogger, her Italian husband, with whom they were traveling together, intervened in the discussion. He tried to settle the conflict, but the Georgian border guard stood her ground. "What are you talking about? Do you even know where Crimea is? It's an occupied territory, don't you know?" the checkpoint worker said angrily and added that they do not recognize such a residence permit. In the end, the unfortunate travelers had to return to Russia.
