What not to do on Christmas Day

Starting in 2023, Ukrainians will celebrate Christmas on December 25, as the Orthodox Church of Ukraine switched to the New Julian calendar. This is one of the most important holidays among believers because it was on this day that Jesus Christ was born.

OBOZ.UA found out what not to do on Christmas. There are many prohibitions that should be observed in order not to bring trouble and misfortune to the family.

The great holiday should be celebrated in peace and tranquility. Refrain from negative thoughts, insults, and quarrels with your family. Our ancestors believed that housework on this day would bring bad luck, so they had to get everything done early. It was only allowed to take care of the cattle.

You can't go hunting or fishing either. One should also refrain from going to the bathhouse or to the hairdresser.

Girls are forbidden to tell fortunes on Christmas Day. On this day, you need to make your deepest desires and they will definitely come true during the year.

There is a belief that on this holiday you should not leave the house before dawn, drink alcohol, or refuse to help others.

Choose clean and light clothes for the festive table, avoid black colors and old, damaged things. All this can create a negative atmosphere in the house and bring trouble to the owners.

Spend Christmas in a cozy family circle, it will fill you with bright and pleasant emotions.
