Cheapest new electric cars: top 10 affordable cars

A list of the cheapest new electric cars has been compiled. Some of them can be called budget even in comparison with the usual gasoline and diesel models.

Autocar studied the European market and identified the most affordable new cars equipped with electric motors instead of internal combustion engines. The prices do seem attractive.

The cheapest new electric cars are:

1. Citroen Ami - $9,990;
2. Smart EQ Fortwo - $28,850;
3. BYD Dolphin - $33,095;
4. MG 4 - $35,050;
5. Fiat 500e - $36,600;
6. Nissan Leaf - $36,990;
7. Renault Zoe - $38,940;
8. MG ZS EV - $39,590;
9. MG 5 - $40,240;
10. Mazda MX-30 - $40,570.

Of course, there is one limitation. The cheapest electric cars never lead the way when it comes to range. Therefore, the models presented in the list can't travel more than 300 km on a single charge.

And some of these electric cars are even provided for urban operation with a range of no more than 100 km. But this does not cancel the fact that they are the cheapest.
