A whole team of antagonists: Marvel releases trailer for Thunderbolts
Goodbye, straight-A students, now Marvel Studios will be telling about the naughty ones. The comic book giant has released a trailer for the superhero action movie Thunderbolts, starring losers, villains, and other not-so-positive characters.
The video was released on Marvel Entertainment's YouTube channel and garnered over 9 million views in less than a day. The movie will be released worldwide in May and will become the 36th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Details of the plot are kept secret. It is only known that the movie will tell the story of a team of superheroes with an impeccable reputation that the US government sends on a secret mission. Judging by the footage, their relationship will not be the easiest.
The trailer focuses on Elena Belova, one of the Black Widows, played by Florence Pugh. Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), Ghost (Anna John-Kamen), Red Guardian (David Harbour), and Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko) will act side by side with her. The film will also feature Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Wyatt Russell, who will play a character named US Agent. The cast also includes Harrison Ford, Laurence Fishburne, Rachel Weisz and other stars.
The film will be directed by Jake Schreier, known for his work on Robot & Frank, Beef, and Paper Towns. The screenplay is based on the comic books by Kurt Busiek and Mark Bagley and was written by Eric Pearson. He has already worked with Marvel on the films Thor: Ragnarok and Black Widow, as well as the blockbuster Godzilla vs. Kong. Kevin Feige is producing the project.
The movie is already being compared to the successful release of DC's competitors Suicide Squad, as well as with David Fincher's Fight Club because of the song Where Is My Mind? by the Pixies, which sounds in the trailer and accompanied the final scene of the 1999 movie hit.
Thunderbolts is expected to be released in Ukraine on May 1, 2025. The dubbed trailer has not yet been released.
