If you're at all interested in makeup, you've probably seen a million tips on how to contour your face, from using self-tanner to various techniques for applying shimmering products. But a new life hack that has started to spread on TikTok can surprise even professionals.
With its help, beauty bloggers have learned how to adjust the shape of the face and make it visually more elongated. The technique is called vertical contouring. OBOZ.UA tells you more about it.
This technique began to spread in Asian countries, where people often have rounder faces by nature. A small makeup trick helps them visually shape the hollow under the cheekbone to bring their face closer to an oval shape.
As the name implies, vertical contouring is a method of applying a sculpting product in vertical rather than horizontal stripes. Usually, we apply concealer or sculptor through the cheekbone to the temple and blend it to emphasize the natural hollow. But on a round face, where this hollow is practically not pronounced, this approach does not work well.
That's why makeup lovers came up with a different trick. They started applying the dark product in three vertical lines from the temple bone down to the jaw. After blending the product, a rather large "shadow" appears in this part of the face and makes it look more elongated. At the same time, this makeup looks quite natural.
Makeup artists advise choosing products with a creamy texture for vertical contouring. Especially for those with a very light complexion. And also focus on lighter colors close to the natural skin color, so as not to create the illusion of bristles instead of a clear contour.
