On Tuesday, May 14, the asteroid 2015 KJ19 will fly near the Earth. Its length reaches 107 meters.
This was reported by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). The 107-meter-long space body will come as close as possible to our planet on May 14 at 05:43 Kyiv time.
According to NASA, the distance from 2015 KJ19 to the Earth will be 6.04 million kilometers.
It is moving at a speed of 83,160 km/h.
If an asteroid approaches the Earth closer than 7.4 million kilometers and its size exceeds 150 meters, then NASA considers it a "potentially hazardous object".
Asteroid 2015 KJ19 does not fall within these parameters.
As a reminder, asteroid 2015 KJ19 approached Earth three years ago, on May 14, 2021. At that time, the distance from it to our planet was 5.8 million kilometers.
The next time, according to NASA, 2015 KJ19 will approach the Earth will be on May 16, 2027 at 14:45.
