Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko honored the memory of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes. According to him, they laid down their lives in the fight against the regime that planned to drive Ukraine into Russian satellites.

The Kyiv mayor wrote about this in his Telegram channel. On February 20, Ukrainians remember the events of 2014 on Independence Square.

"10 years ago, Ukraine paid a bloody price for its freedom and dignity. More than a hundred of our compatriots lost their lives in the fight against a regime that planned to drive the country into Russian satellites. It wanted to deprive Ukraine of its European future. The cynical shooting of civilians to please the Kremlin... Because Yanukovych needed to demonstrate what happens to those who disagree," Klitschko wrote.

The Kyiv mayor emphasized that the Heavenly Hundred Heroes became the first victims of Russian President Putin in Ukraine. "But our people were not afraid, did not submit, and showed who Russia is dealing with.

"Not with slaves or sycophants, but with a strong and free nation. Now the barbarians are trying to destroy Ukraine and Ukrainians. But they will not succeed! As long as we are fighting, as long as we are united, we will help the army, take care of the living defenders and honor the memory of the fallen Heroes. Eternal memory to the Heroes who laid down their lives for the free and democratic future of our country!" Klitschko added.
