Limescale builds up in the kettle due to hard and poor quality water. This affects not only the taste of the drinks, but also the operation of the appliance, as untimely cleaning can lead to breakdowns.

Housewives usually use proven methods with vinegar, lemon, or baking soda. But the Mrs. Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook group has come up with an interesting method that will help you quickly deal with a common problem without investing much effort and time.

Citric acid

This is a universal tool that will quickly clean the kettle from limescale. Although vinegar is effective, it has a pungent odor that others do not like. Therefore, housewives advised to use citric acid, which is a worthy substitute for popular products.

Add one or two tablespoons of acid to a kettle, pour water, and boil. Leave it for 20-30 minutes and pour out the solution along with the white plaque particles. Rinse with cold water to get rid of any residual dirt and you can use the appliance again.

You can also add a tablespoon of citric acid to the water, after the kettle has boiled, stir everything and you will immediately see how limescale begins to peel off the walls.

Clean the kettle once a month, but if limescale appears quickly, do it more often.
