Harvesting cabbage

In the fall, gardeners spend a lot of time working on their gardens because they need to harvest and prepare the soil for the next season. Cabbage is one of the last crops that gardeners harvest in October or November.

OBOZREVATEL has collected tips to help determine the best days for this. The timing of cabbage harvesting depends on the variety and region of cultivation.

The best time to harvest this crop in the fall is October or November. You don't have to worry about the first frosts, because cabbage can withstand temperatures down to -6°C. But you shouldn't leave the fruit in the garden for too long either, because persistent frosts will spoil the head of cabbage.

Favorable dates for harvesting cabbage according to the lunar sowing calendar:

  • October - 1, 15, 25-27;
  • November - 10, 11, 21-25.

Before cutting the fruit, it is necessary to inspect the head of cabbage to determine its maturity. It should be dense with a hard core. Ripe cabbage does not taste bitter, and the flesh is sweet.

OBOZREVATEL also published a sowing calendar for October, which will help determine a favorable period for gardening.

Favorable days for sowing and planting all types of plants are 2, 3, 6-8, 15-17, 21, 22, 25, 26, 29, 30.

Unfavorable days for gardening are 13, 14, 18-20, 23, 24, 28.

Earlier, OBOZREVATEL told you which common cleaning product will help to get rid of weeds in the garden for a long time.
