What to do if seedlings begin to wither: life-saving advice

Yulia PoteriankoLife
Yeast and sugar revitalize young sprouts

Summer house residents start sowing some garden and ornamental crops for seedlings as early as January as sometimes it is necessary to repeat sowing because young sprouts can die almost immediately. Even the slightest mistakes in care lead to withering.

Is it possible to save them in this case and avoid re-sowing? Experienced gardeners say it is. OBOZ.UA tells you how to revive wilted seedlings with a homemade fertilizer.

To prepare a life-saving liquid for irrigation, you will need the following ingredients:

  • dry yeast - 50 grams;
  • granulated sugar - 1 tablespoon;
  • water.

Yeast and sugar are poured into one container and mixed thoroughly. Then the mixture is poured into 5 liters of water and left for two days. During this time, the yeast will begin to ferment and release nitrogen, vitamins, and some other minerals necessary for plants. When the liquid is infused, add another 5 liters of clean water and mix well. The fertilizer for irrigation is ready.

The resulting nutrient liquid is applied under the seedlings in the required amount so as not to overfill the young plants. The fertilizer will be useful for all vegetable crops, but carrots respond especially well to it.

Don't forget to make sure that you provide the seedlings with sufficient light, the right temperature, and adequate moisture. Sometimes it is enough to correct the main mistake for the plants to get stronger and return to active growth.
