Ukraine becomes vice-champion of Europe in women's futsal in a historic match

The Ukrainian women's futsal team lost in the final of the 2023 European Championship. In Debrecen, Hungary, Oleg Shaitanov's team lost to the titled Spaniards with a score of 1-5. For our girls, this was their first ever appearance in the final match of the continental championship.

The match started shockingly for our girls. In the 10th second, Iryna Dubytska knocked down her opponent and the referee gave a 6-metre penalty after reviewing the VAR.

Later on, Ukraine tried to run out on counterattacks, to catch their chance on fouls, but the advantage of the Spaniards looked very convincing. They converted all their scoring chances, scoring 5 goals in total.

In the semi-finals, the Ukrainian team beat Hungary 2-1. The Spanish national team defeated Portugal 3-2 in the 1/2 finals. At the last European Championship, the Yellow and Blues also reached the Final Four, but failed to make it to the final, finishing third.
