Toyota was skeptical about battery electric cars until recently. Now the company has decided to flood the market with cheap electric cars. The goal is to increase annual sales to millions of units worldwide.
The ambitious plans of the Japanese concern were reported by MarketWatch. Toyota intends to increase sales of electric cars to 1.5 million copies by 2026. This will be facilitated by 10 new models. These electric cars must be affordable if the company expects high sales.
What's more, it plans to increase annual sales to 3.5 million units worldwide by 2030. The company is preparing a next-generation EV lineup with solid-state batteries. This technology will make mass production cheaper and will help achieve a range of 1,000 kilometers.
We are talking about the total sales of the entire Toyota group together with its subsidiaries Daihatsu and Lexus. The latter will be responsible for premium, the most expensive and qualitatively equipped electric models.
