The dirtiest thing in the bathroom that everyone forgets to clean: it's a breeding ground for bacteria and mold
There is one item in the bathroom that recent research identifies as a breeding ground for bacteria and mold, and surprisingly, it's often overlooked during cleaning.
This item is the bathroom mat, and experts recommend washing it at least once a week. The Sun provides more details on this.
Unfortunately, many mats are not washed as frequently as necessary, leading them to become breeding grounds for germs.
Warren Kinloch, a British expert at Bathroom Deal, commented, "Disappointing statistics show that mats are sometimes only washed once or twice a year, leaving them completely covered in bacteria and mold in the fibers." This is woefully inadequate.
The moisture produced in the bathroom during showers creates an ideal environment for the growth of bacteria and mold.
Warren Kinloch cautioned that stepping onto a dirty mat after a shower can transfer germs to your feet. He recommends washing fabric mats 1-2 times a week to minimize bacteria.
For cleaning, a diluted solution of water and white vinegar can be used to eliminate dirt and unpleasant odors.
