Warren Kinloch warned if you step out of the shower onto a dirty mat, germs will transfer to your feet. He recommends washing fabric mats 1-2 times a week to get rid of bacteria as much as possible.

You can use a diluted solution of water and white vinegar for washing, which will get rid of dirt and odor.
