The dirtiest places on trains have been named: you had no idea

It's hard to label a train carriage as a clean space

A train is evidently not the cleanest place on earth. The presence of numerous passengers with varying hygiene habits leaves its mark on the train cars, with some areas accumulating more traces than others.

OBOZREVATEL has identified the places on trains considered the dirtiest, excluding the toilet, which undergoes regular and thorough cleaning.

Table

The table in the compartment may appear clean, but, in reality, it teems with bacteria. This is especially true due to the habit of some passengers using it as a step to reach the top shelf. It is advisable to place food on it with something clean and wipe the surface with a damp cloth or treat it with an antiseptic.

Mesh Pockets

Sleeper berths often feature mesh pockets for various small items. Unfortunately, passengers sometimes use these as trash cans, leaving waste for extended periods. Consequently, the mesh used for these pockets becomes very dirty, and proper disinfection is challenging.

Pillows and Blankets

Some passengers opt to economize on bedding, using mattresses and pillows without covers. However, this practice is not advisable, as bedding is designed to offer a hygienic sleeping environment. Bedding can be easily replaced and washed, whereas pillows, blankets, and mattresses accumulate dust and dirt for months, if not years.

Shelves

Although the shelves serving as beds undergo regular cleaning, being a common area, they become dirty quickly. Hence, if possible, it is recommended to wipe them with wet wipes.

Earlier, OBOZREVATEL reported that the rules for returning train tickets have changed in Ukraine.
