In an official letter to the Basketball Federation of Ukraine, the FIBA Europe Executive Committee announced that it had unanimously decided not to allow the Russian and Belarusian national teams to participate in the EuroBasket 2025 pre-qualification, which will take place in July-August 23.

Following the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the FIBA Executive Committee last week decided not to allow the respective teams to participate in the pre-qualification tournament. Thus, the Russian and Belarusian national teams will not be able to play at the 2025 European Championships.

Earlier, the Polish Basketball Federation, as well as the federations of the Baltic and Nordic countries, sent an official letter to FIBA Europe stating that Russia and Belarus should not be allowed to participate in the competition, and their representatives should not be allowed to join the governing bodies.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, the day before, the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) did not allow the Russian national team to qualify for the 2024 Olympics.
