Fiorentina defender Christian Biragi scored an incredible goal in the 24th round of Serie A. The 30-year-old Italian international scored from the centre of the pitch in the match against Verona.
The episode took place in the 89th minute after Biragi's teammate was knocked down in the centre circle. While the opponent was apologising to the victim, Christian struck a whiplash and strong shot towards the goal. This "shot" took the goalkeeper by surprise. The ball flew over the goalkeeper in a high trajectory and ended up in the net.
The match ended with a score of 3-0, enabling the Violets to gain 28 points and move up to 12th place in the standings.
According to the OptaPaolo statistical portal, this goal, scored from 58 metres away, was the furthest accurate shot in the Italian elite championship over the past ten years.
