In Ukraine, passing exams, including Ukrainian language proficiency, will be a condition for citizenship: details of the decision
Passing exams will be a prerequisite for acquiring Ukrainian citizenship. Applicants for a Ukrainian passport will have to demonstrate their knowledge of the fundamentals of the Constitution of Ukraine, the history of Ukraine, and their level of proficiency in the state language.
The relevant innovation was supported by members of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Tuesday, March 21. As many as 281 MPs voted in favour of Bill No. 7606, Yaroslav Zheleznyak, a member of the Holos party, reported to Telegam.
Last November, a popular comedian from Belarus, Yevgeny Smorygin, passed the Ukrainian language exam to become a Ukrainian citizen. The Diesel Show star admitted that it was easy for him to cope with all the tasks, as he had been actively studying and is still learning Ukrainian.
And in the last days of 2022, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy issued a decree suspending the citizenship of 13 high-ranking priests of the UOC-MP. Since the decree contains personal information, it is not published on the website of the head of state in accordance with the current legislation.
