Tear off a sheet of foil from the roll and fold it in triplicate - this thickness will be optimal. Now you need to cut the folded foil with scissors. The thicker the blades of the scissors, the more movements you will have to make. So for small manukir scissors will be enough 10-12 cuts, stationery scissors for paper will become sharp enough after 10-15, but kitchen scissors will need about 30.
Instead of foil, you can also use metallized food wrappers, such as candy wrappers. An old metal sponge will also do. The main thing is that it should be clean enough.
