How to remove oil stains on brick: tips for private house owners

How to clean bricks

Stains on bricks really spoil the aesthetics of the house and the garden. Stubborn oil stains on paving slabs or bricks seem to be extremely difficult to remove.

Experts reassure you that both improvised ingredients and professional products will come in handy. The Express publication told us how to remove the most difficult type of stains.

Terraform Driveways experts advise trying household products, such as laundry detergent. It is best suited for removing oil stains because it contains surfactants and often has an alkaline composition.

Oil is hydrophobic, so the surfactants in the powder, when mixed with water, effectively dissolve oil stains.

Take a few spoons of the powder, add warm water to form a paste-like mixture, and apply it to the oil stain. Leave it on for 30 minutes, and then scrub with a stiff wire or nylon brush to remove any residue.

Liquid laundry detergent can also come in handy. Just pour the solution directly onto the stain and scrub with a stiff brush. It is better to rinse off the remaining detergent with a hose.

Baking soda is the second main household product that experts recommend for the most difficult stains. Baking soda has "ultra-absorbent" properties, so this method will be more effective for fresh oil leaks on brick and concrete surfaces.

Add a little water to the baking soda and apply a pasty, thick mixture to the stain. Leave it on for an hour (better overnight), and then scrub with a stiff brush dipped in water and dishwashing detergent.
