How to quickly whiten yellowed plastic: a simple method

Yellowing plastic is a problem that happens quite often. As a rule, it does not pose any danger, but it can spoil the appearance of household items and interior objects very badly. Therefore, many people are looking for ways to safely return it to its original appearance.

OBOZ.UA has collected several life hacks on how to do this without using aggressive chemicals. All you need is an ordinary lemon and a little bit of salt.

To prepare the plastic whitener, take a medium-sized lemon, cut it into slices, and microwave it for 30 seconds. Set the bowl with the fruit aside to cool slightly.

Take the salt and sprinkle it evenly over the yellowed area of the plastic surface, then squeeze the lemon juice over it. If you don't have a microwave, fresh juice will work just as well, but it will be less and you may need two fruits.

Let the salt and lemon juice sit for 10-15 minutes, then rub the yellowed plastic with the soft side of a sponge. This will mechanically remove any dirt and clean the surface deeper.

If after such cleaning the plastic does not whiten to the shade you need, simply repeat the steps in the same way. Since none of the products damages the plastic surface, the procedure can be performed as many times as necessary.
