The main thing that this approach gives is a sense of purpose. You are not cleaning for the sake of cleaning but literally as if you are preparing to move.
Set yourself a "move-out" date and start packing. Get the number of boxes you need. Pull all the things out of the cabinets and shelves and sort them out, asking yourself if you should take this item with you to the new place. Is it worth paying for its transportation? If the answer is no, put this item in a separate box. Sort the rest of your belongings into groups and label them. Next, wipe the dust everywhere, wash the floor and windows, and wash the textiles. At this stage, you are ready to "move out".
