Ford has decided to stop producing some popular low-cost models. The lineup will be reduced by 2025, continuing the chosen strategy of recent years. However, the vacant places in the lineup will be occupied by new cars.

Autoevolution reports about it. The reduction will affect the Ford Escape and Edge crossovers, as well as the Transit Connect van. These vehicles will disappear from the company's showrooms by 2025.

The Ford Kuga crossover, which is the European variant of the Escape, may also be affected. The company does not see further expediency in the production of cars with internal combustion engines.

They are now considered unprofitable. In addition, sales are falling. The new Bronco Sport built on a common platform with Escape/Kuga has taken away part of the customer demand from compact crossovers. Transit Connect has to fight with larger Ford vans, an eclectic version included.

Electric cars will replace the free lineup space from 2025. Funds saved on the refusal of the production of unprofitable cars with gasoline and diesel engines will be used for this purpose.
