Doctor explains the dangers of insomnia pills

Sleep problems can really ruin your life, deprive you of energy, affect the quality of your work, and lead to depression and exacerbation of chronic diseases. However, even so, experts urge you not to engage in self-medication and not to rely on insomnia pills too much.

Instead, you should try to solve the problem with safer, more affordable and simpler methods, doctor Victoria Savytska said. This was reported by Golos.ua.

"It is important to remember that any medication, including for sleep disorders, should be prescribed only by a specialist, taking into account the patient's general condition, existing health problems, and age," the doctor warned.

It is noted that insomnia is least commonly complained of in winter, while the problem becomes more acute in summer.

According to Savytska, this is due to the fact that the brain lacks oxygen in hot weather, which ultimately results in lethargy during the day and sleepless nights. Although it can also be the other way around: tired after a hard day, a person falls asleep quickly. However, their sleep is disturbing and intermittent.

The doctor emphasized that insomnia is almost always a reaction of the body to a particular problem. Therefore, it is necessary to understand what provokes it and get rid of this factor, not to "quench" the inability to fall asleep with pills.
