Tastier than Dressed herring: a variant of an elementary holiday appetizer with beets and herring
You can prepare this simple appetizer much faster than the popular Dressed herring salad. You don't need to chop a lot of vegetables and put them in layers. The sandwiches are delicious and take a minimum of time to prepare.

Recipe for an appetizer with beets and herring

Ingredients:
- beetroot
- lightly salted herring
- black bread
- cream cheese
- red onion
Method of preparation:
Beetroot for preparing an appetizer

1. Boil or bake the beets until soft.
2. After cooking, cool and peel.
Herring for preparing an appetizer

3. Grate or cut into small cubes.
4. Peel the herring from the skin and bones.
5. Cut into thick strips.
Bread for appetizers

6. Peel the onion and cut into thin rings.
7. Cut the black bread into slices.

8. Dry in the oven or toaster oven or in a dry frying pan.

9. Spread each slice of bread with cream cheese, put beets.
10. Put herring and onions on top.
