Stewed cabbage without meat: what to add to make the dish juicy
Such a low-cost vegetable as cabbage can be the basis for various dishes, ranging from borscht, light soups, salads, pancakes, cutlets, pies, cabbage rolls, and sauerkraut.
Food blogger Oksana (oxana_bil) shared a recipe for stewed cabbage without meat on her Instagram page. Vegetables and tomato paste will give the dish a special juiciness and flavor.
Ingredients:
- cabbage - 1 pc
- onion - 2 pcs
- carrots - 2 pcs
- garlic - 3 cloves
- tomato paste - 1.5 tbsp
- salt - 1\2 tbsp
- sugar - 1\2 tbsp
- bay leaves
- pepper
Method of preparation:
1. Thinly chop cabbage and onion. Grate carrots and garlic.
2. Fry the onion in a small amount of oil until light golden brown.
3. Add carrots and garlic. Fry for 5 minutes.
4. Add cabbage and simmer, covered, over medium heat for about 20 minutes.
5. Add salt, sugar, tomato paste and pepper. Stir and simmer for 10 minutes.
6. Add bay leaves and remove from heat.
