Step-by-step recipe for Tom Cruise's favorite cake, which he sends his friends as a Chirstmas gift every year
This spring, a documentary about the famous Hollywood actress Brooke Shields, in which she revealed an interesting tradition of her colleague and equally famous actor Tom Cruise, was released. As it turned out, every year before Christmas, Cruise sends his closest friends a white chocolate coconut cake as a gift.
The tasty.co journalists managed to find out that such a cake is sold in the US for $125, but if you make it yourself, it will be much cheaper.
Ingredients
For the cake:
- 3 cups of flour
- 1/2 tsp of salt
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 3 cups of sugar
- 1 cup soft butter
- 6 large eggs at room temperature
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 tsp. coconut extract
- 1 cup of sour cream
- 2 cups of sweetened coconut flakes
- 1 cup white chocolate chips
For icing:
- 100 gr. room temperature cream cheese
- 1/4 cup of soft butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/8 tsp. of salt
- 2 cups of powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp. heavy cream
- 1 ½ cups sweetened coconut flakes
Preparation of the cake:
1. Preheat the oven to 175 degrees
2. Grease and flour a round cake pan with a diameter of 25 cm.
3. Combine salt, flour and baking powder in a separate container, mix thoroughly and set aside
4. Beat flour and sugar with a mixer on medium speed for about 5 minutes. It should be light and airy.
5. Add eggs one at a time and beat thoroughly after each one. Add vanilla and coconut extracts and sour cream. Mix until smooth.
6. Add all the dry ingredients that we mixed earlier, as well as coconut flakes and white chocolate chips to the resulting mass
7. Pour the resulting mass into a mold and level it
8. Bake in the preheated oven for 1.5 hours. Before the end of the baking time, check for doneness with a toothpick
Prepare the icing
1. Combine cream cheese, butter, vanilla extract and salt in a bowl and mix with a mixer on low speed until smooth, gradually adding powdered sugar. Add cream and mix until fluffy and light (approximately 1-2 minutes).
2. Using the resulting mass, grease the cold cake on all sides except the bottom and sprinkle generously with coconut flakes, which should be slightly pressed with your hands
