If you're tired of the taste of ordinary stewed cabbage, it's time to make this dish according to the recipe of the famous chef Nigella Lawson, who managed to combine the sweetness of red cabbage with the sourness of cranberries.

The dish is simple to prepare and requires little to no effort. And the ingredients are almost always available in the fridge. This wonderful recipe was recently published on the Mirror website.

Spicy stewed cabbage: how to create a masterpiece from an ordinary dish

Ingredients (for 8-10 servings):

  • apple juice - 750 ml
  • dried cranberries -150 gr
  • fresh or frozen cranberries - 250 g
  • 1 red cabbage, cut into slices - 800-900 g
  • 1 large red onion, cut into crescents
  • 4 tsp. sea salt
  • 2 tbsp. brown sugar
  • 2 tsp. ground cinnamon

Method of preparation:

1. Add all the ingredients to a large heavy-bottomed saucepan, stir, bring to a boil and leave for 10 minutes

2. Cover, reduce the heat and leave to simmer for 1.5-2 hours until the cabbage is completely soft. Stir the future dish from time to time

3. Leave the finished dish in the pot for a while. This will help thicken the juice that was released during cooking

This dish can be prepared the day before serving. In this case, there is no need to stew the cabbage until it is fully cooked. It is better to do this the next day when reheating before serving.
