Salad in pita bread for the New Year: how to prepare this original appetizer

A salad in pita bread will be a very original and satisfying appetizer on your holiday table. The serving is very convenient: you can eat the dish with your hands. Besides, it looks very aesthetically pleasing.

The idea of preparing a festive salad in pita bread was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Valeria Velihura (yummy.lera). It contains a lot of greens and vegetables.

Ingredients:

  • 1-2 pcs. pita bread or 12 pcs. tacos
  • 1 small chicken fillet (200 g)
  • 200 g of Romaine lettuce or Chinese cabbage
  • 150 g of cherry tomatoes
  • 8 pcs. boiled quail eggs
  • 60 g of parmesan cheese

Ingredients for the sauce:

  • 100 g mayonnaise/sour cream/natural yogurt
  • 1 tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 tsp of mustard
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic
  • salt, pepper ⠀

How to prepare the sauce:

1. Combine mayonnaise/sour cream/natural yogurt, lemon juice, mustard, chopped garlic and spices.⠀

2. Cut out circles of pita bread or take round tacos and put them in any shape to form baskets. Bake in a preheated to180 degrees oven for 10 minutes.

3. Sprinkle the chicken with salt, pepper, and your favorite spices.

4. Wrap in parchment.

5. Fry in a frying pan without oil over medium heat for 12-15 minutes on each side.

6. Let it cool slightly on the parchment or in foil to keep it juicy.

7. Combine the chopped cabbage/lettuce, tomatoes, chicken, eggs, and sauce.

8. Fill the baskets with the salad and sprinkle with cheese.
