Quick potato cakes with mashed potatoes in a skillet: what to put inside

Mashed potatoes can be eaten simply with sausages. But it will be much more satisfying to make puffy cakes from it. It is delicious to put fried mushrooms or minced meat inside.
The idea of making potato cakes with mushroom and meat fillings was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Kateryna with the nickname katia_cooking. You can eat them with borscht or soup.
Ingredients:
- potatoes - 1.5 kg.
- onion - 1 pc.
- butter - 70 grams
- flour - 1/2 cup.
- salt and pepper - to taste
- oil for frying

Ingredients for the mushroom filling:
- mushrooms - 400 g
- onion - 1 pc.
- spices
Ingredients for the meat filling:
- minced meat - 400 g (any)
- onion - 1 pc.
- spices
Method of preparation:
1. Boil and mash the potatoes, add spices and butter.
2. Cool slightly.
3. Add the flour gradually, avoiding lumps, to make the minced potatoes as smooth as possible.
4. Make potato dough into shapes on the palm of your hand, put minced meat/mushrooms in the middle, and form cakes.
5. Fry the potato cakes in a preheated frying pan with vegetable oil over medium heat until cooked for 3 minutes on each side. Do not make large cakes, because they will turn out soggy.
6. Serve with sour cream and herbs.
