Potato patties that always turn out well: what kind of dough to use

Patties with potatoes are a very tasty and satisfying dish that can be a complete meal. The most important thing is to prepare a good yeast dough, which determines how airy and soft the pies will be. Everything else does not take much time and effort, and you can quickly prepare pies for lunch or dinner for your family.

Food blogger Yana Bardych (yana_bardych) shared a recipe for potato patties cooked in the oven on her Instagram page.

Ingredients:

  • eggs – 1 pc.
  • flour – 300 g
  • sugar – 1 tbsp.
  • salt – 0.5 tsp
  • vegetable oil – 60 ml
  • milk – 150 ml
  • water – 50 ml
  • dry yeast – 1 tsp.

Method of preparation:

1. Sift the flour.

2. Dissolve the yeast in water, adding 1 teaspoon of sugar. Stir the mixture. Leave the mixture for 20 minutes – a yeast "cap" should appear on the surface.

3. In a deep bowl, beat the egg with salt and sugar, and add warm milk and oil. Stir the mixture.

4. Add the yeast. Mix until smooth.

5. Gradually add flour and knead the dough. It should be soft, homogeneous, and slightly sticky. Shape the dough into a ball, put it in a bowl, and cover with a napkin to prevent it from getting windy. Put it in a warm place to rise for about 2 hours.

6. Meanwhile, prepare the filling. Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender, mash and cool.

7. Divide the dough into equal pieces, and roll each one out.

8. Put the filling and form patties. Put them on a baking sheet.

9. Brush the pies with a beaten egg.

10. Bake at 180 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
