Legendary shepherd's pie with potatoes: perfect for lunch

Shepherd's pie is a dish of potatoes and mincemeat, which has a British origin. Housewives used to prepare such a meal from what was left after dinner in order to save money. And over time, shepherd's pie became a full-fledged dish that is known all over the world.
The idea of making a hearty shepherd's pie for lunch was published on the Instagram page of food blogger ValentinaSaenko (valya__saenko). Such a hearty and budget-friendly dish is enough for the whole family.
Ingredients:
- minced meat - 700 g
- carrots - 1 pc
- onion - 1 pc
- celery - 3 stalks (not necessary)
- garlic - 3 cloves
- cumin
- salt, pepper and favorite spices
- tomato paste - 2 tbsp.
- broth - 50 g
- red wine - 50 g
- potatoes - 900 g
- milk or cream - 100 g
- butter - 50 g
Method of preparation:
1. Peel the potatoes and put them on the boil.
2. In the meantime, peel and dice onions, carrots and celery.

3. Fry in a frying pan for about 5-7 minutes.
4. Add the minced meat. It does not have to be fried. It should change color to gray and break all the lumps.
5. Add garlic, spices, thyme and tomato paste. Fry again for a few more minutes.
6. Add the stock and wine and simmer for a few more minutes.
7. In the boiled potatoes, drain off all the liquid well.
