How to make jam from watermelon rinds: original recipe

Watermelon rind jam is an original preparation for winter. It turns out moderately sweet and has a pleasant color thanks to the crusts, which become transparent and amber in the process of cooking. The preparation is very easy to make at home - even beginners can do it.

Food blogger Oleg Kurdas(oleg_curdas) shared a recipe for watermelon rind jam on his Instagram page.

What to cook from watermelon

Ingredients:

  • watermelon - 2 kg
  • sugar - 0.5 kg
  • cloves
  • zest of 1 orange
  • water - 0.5 liters

Method of preparation:

1. First you need to clean the watermelon from the pulp, cut the rind into medium cubes. Transfer to a deep saucepan.

2. Add sugar, cloves, orange zest and juice, water to the watermelon rinds.

3. The mass should be mixed, put on the fire and cook the jam on low heat for 2 hours, stirring occasionally.

4. At this stage, you need to pour the hot jam into sterile jars and seal with lids. You can also eat the dessert at once. Bon appetit!
