How to cook pilaf if there is no steamed rice: the taste will pleasantly surprise you
Even if you don't have special steamed rice for pilaf, you can use regular rice. Just cook the side dish and the meat for it separately. Veal is the best choice for this dish.
The idea of cooking hearty rice with veal instead of pilaf was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Valentyna Saienko (valya__saenko). The meat is very soft and spicy.
Ingredients:
- veal (flank steak or ribeye) - 800 g
- onion - 1 pc
- carrots - 1 pc (small)
- bell pepper - 1 pc;
- chili pepper
- broccoli - 4-6 florets
- garlic - 4-6 cloves
- ginger root
- corn starch
- soy sauce - 80 g
- water - 80 g
- apple cider vinegar - 0.5 tbsp
- sugar - 50 g
- rice for serving
- green onions for serving
Method of preparation:
1. Cut the onion into half rings and carrot and pepper into thin strips.
2. Divide the broccoli into small florets.
3. For the sauce, mix water, soy sauce, sugar and vinegar.
4. Cut the meat thinly. To do this, put it in the freezer for 40 minutes. Frozen meat will be easier to cut.
5. Sprinkle the chopped meat well with starch (3-4 tbsp).
6. Put it on a sieve and shake. This will remove the excess starch.
7. Start frying. First, fry the carrots, then add the onions after 30 seconds. Then, after 1-2 minutes, add the bell pepper and chili, and finally broccoli. Fry for 1 minute and set aside.
8. Next, fry the meat in the same pan. Put it in 1 layer. Fry over high heat. Turn it over only once.
9. Add vegetables, grated garlic and ginger to the fried meat. Pour over the sauce. Simmer for 1-2 minutes. Serve with rice and green onions.
