How to cook lentils for lunch in an unusual way: a dish with character
Lentils are the most versatile of all legumes. Lentils are used in many different dishes, and they play a major role in each of them. It is a legume that has its own character and knows exactly its own value.
It is able to adapt to the most demanding tastes, successfully combine with other products and not lose its uniqueness. Lentils are most often added to first courses. However, nutritionist Khrystyna Nedostup showed on Instagram that lentils can also be stewed with other vegetables, resulting in an incredibly tasty dish.
Ingredients
- Green lentils - 170 gr
- Onion - 1 pc
- Carrot - 1 pc
- Potatoes - 2 pcs
- Garlic - 2 cloves
- Tomato paste - 1 tbsp
- Pepper paste - ½ tbsp
- Oil - 4 tbsp
- Chili powder - 1 tsp
- Red pepper - 1 tsp.
- Black pepper - ½ tsp.
- Salt - 1 tsp.
- Water - 4-5 glasses
Method of preparation
1.Boil the lentils in water for 6 minutes, then drain.
2. Dice the onion, garlic, potatoes and carrots.
3. Fry the onion in a frying pan with oil, then add the carrots and continue to sauté. Then add the potatoes and sauté them as well.
4. Add garlic and tomato paste and fry well.
5. Put the lentils, salt and pepper in a saucepan and mix well.
6. Pour water over the lentils, add the stewed vegetables and let it cook for 30 minutes.
7. Can be served with yogurt.
