The first thing you need to make sure before cooking wild mushrooms is that they are edible because you could endanger yourself and your family. But then the question of how to clean and cook them properly arises. For inexperienced mushroom pickers, this is a rather difficult task.
Food blogger Maksym with a nickname nekuhar, shared his tips on how to cook wild mushrooms on Instagram. If you prepare the product for long-term storage, it can be added to a variety of dishes and will be very tasty.
What to do with mushrooms if you are sure they are edible:
1. Once you have picked mushrooms, they should not be stored for long. Do not eat very old mushrooms or mushrooms with pests as this can be dangerous.
2. Before cooking, clean and rinse the mushrooms well. If they are in sand, use a sponge.
3. Cut the mushrooms in half to make sure there are no pests inside.
4. If the base of the mushroom is not rotten yet and the mesh has already turned green under the hat, remove it and leave only the base of the mushroom on which it is held.
5. If the mushroom is dense and has a light color, put it in a pot of salted water.
6. Remove the foam before boiling.
7. When the water becomes clear, strain the mushrooms through a sieve.
8. Do not cook the mushrooms for a long time as they will lose their flavor.
9. Then, after squeezing, the mushrooms can be put into containers and sent for long-term storage in the freezer. You can also chop them up and use them in cooking for boiling and frying.
