Honey cake with nuts: a dessert for tea during Lent
On any given day, a person may want to eat a delicious dessert with aromatic tea or coffee. However, during Lent, not all desserts can be eaten, as they contain prohibited foods.
That's why food blogger Lisa Glinska offered a recipe on Instagram for a honey cake with nuts that can be eaten during Lent. It contains exclusively lean ingredients.
Ingredients:
- Sugar – 70 grams
- Water – 100 ml (can be replaced with orange juice)
- Orange zest – 1 pc
- Oil – 50 ml
- Honey – 50 gr
- Flour – 150 gr
- Almond flour – 50 g (or any other nut flour)
- Baking powder – 6 g
- Walnuts – 50 g (or any other)
The way of preparation:
1. Mix hot water with sugar, honey, oil and zest.
2. Mix wheat flour with walnut flour, baking powder and cinnamon. Combine both mixtures. Mix or blend with a blender.
3. Grease a baking dish with vegetable oil and sprinkle with flour.
4. Put a layer of pecans (or other nuts) on the bottom of the mold.
5. Carefully spread the dough, making sure that the nuts do not mix with it.
6. Bake for 30-35 minutes at 170 degrees. Check for doneness with a toothpick.
7. Take the hot cake out of the mold and let it cool completely.
