Delicious vegetable milk for coffee, which can be used in fasting: how to make it at home
Many people simply cannot drink coffee without milk. Therefore, it is quite problematic to find an alternative to an animal product during the fasting period. You can use store-bought options, but it will be much more budget-friendly and safe to make plant milk at home.
The idea of preparing lean milk for coffee was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Khrystyna Buleziuk (kristina_buleziuk). You only need 2 simple ingredients.
Ingredients:
- unroasted nuts - 1 cup
- water - 4 cups
Method of preparation:
1. Soak the nuts for 8 hours (for walnuts and cashews, you can soak them for less time - 4 hours, and for almonds - from 8 to 12 hours).
2. Drain the water after soaking.
3. Put the nuts in the blender bowl.
4. Pour the required amount of water (you can use half the water if it does not fit, and then dilute the drink with the rest of the water).
5. Grind everything together for several minutes. The liquid should become light in color.
6. Strain the drink through cheesecloth or a special bag to remove the remaining nuts.
7. If desired, you can add a few dates (chop them together with nuts) or a little honey to the milk to make it taste slightly sweet.
8. The shelf life is 4-7 days.
