Chinese-style young cabbage: how to cook a seasonal vegetable in a new way

Young cabbage, which is in full season, is most often used to make a variety of salads and fritters. But another great option is to make Chinese-style cabbage. The appetizer turns out to be very spicy, flavorful, and crispy. And most importantly, it is made from the simplest possible ingredients.

The idea of cooking Chinese-style spicy cabbage was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Eduard Nasirov (my_happyfood).

Ingredients:

  • young cabbage – 1 head
  • chopped green onions – 1 bunch
  • chopped fresh or dry chili pepper – 1 pc
  • garlic, cut into slices – 2 cloves
  • boiling vegetable oil – 2-3 tbsp.
  • salt – a pinch
  • sugar – 1 tsp.
  • soy sauce – 2 tbsp.
  • oyster vegan sauce – 1 tsp.
  • vinegar – 1 tsp.

Method of preparation:

1. Cut the cabbage in half and tear the leaves with your hands.

2. Blanch the cabbage in boiling water for 1 minute.

3. Transfer to ice water and squeeze.

Garlic for the dish

4. Put the cabbage in a bowl, add onion, chili, and garlic on top.

5. Pour over boiling oil, and add the remaining ingredients.

Soy sauce for a dish

6. Mix well and serve.
