Chinese-style young cabbage: how to cook a seasonal vegetable in a new way
Young cabbage, which is in full season, is most often used to make a variety of salads and fritters. But another great option is to make Chinese-style cabbage. The appetizer turns out to be very spicy, flavorful, and crispy. And most importantly, it is made from the simplest possible ingredients.
The idea of cooking Chinese-style spicy cabbage was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Eduard Nasirov (my_happyfood).
Ingredients:
- young cabbage – 1 head
- chopped green onions – 1 bunch
- chopped fresh or dry chili pepper – 1 pc
- garlic, cut into slices – 2 cloves
- boiling vegetable oil – 2-3 tbsp.
- salt – a pinch
- sugar – 1 tsp.
- soy sauce – 2 tbsp.
- oyster vegan sauce – 1 tsp.
- vinegar – 1 tsp.
Method of preparation:
1. Cut the cabbage in half and tear the leaves with your hands.
2. Blanch the cabbage in boiling water for 1 minute.
3. Transfer to ice water and squeeze.
4. Put the cabbage in a bowl, add onion, chili, and garlic on top.
5. Pour over boiling oil, and add the remaining ingredients.
6. Mix well and serve.
