Budget herring spread: how to cook vorschmack in a new way
Herring is a delicious fish for making budget spreads, including vorschmack. Traditionally, this appetizer is complemented with apples and eggs, sometimes with carrots and melted cheese.
One of the cooking blogs (cook_with_me_at_home) on Instagram published a recipe for vorschmack that you can prepare in just 5 minutes.
Ingredients:
- herring - 190 g
- onion - 40 g
- apples - 45 g
- egg (boiled) - 1 pc.
- butter - 40 g
- sugar - 1/2 tsp
- vinegar - 1/2 tsp.
Important: for cooking, it is recommended to use a sweet and sour apple variety, and shallots, because they are more delicate and pleasant to the taste.
Method of preparation:
1. Boil eggs, peel and cut into cubes.
2. Peel the apples and cut them into medium cubes, cut the onion and herring into portions.
3. Put all the chopped ingredients in a blender bowl, add sugar, vinegar and butter at room temperature. Blend everything until smooth.
4. Ready-made vorshmak is best served spread on a slice of bread and topped with red onion rings.
